Dictionary terms we make up :)
Yo. Most of you (well, all of you) have probably seen and know me as being el picturo moderato, but that is not why I am here. I am here to finally make a list of official roboticos terms for the team, to refer to! We have already got quite a few, but I will just list one or two.
1. RUMORMAKER (pronoun/noun; "rue-moar-make-err")-
Definition: A person who gossips and talks alot about others, usually for bad intent.
Example: "HEY! You there! RUMORMAKER!"
Made by: The Evil Lord Sundae, TiRAMIsu, and Minh Dang
2. Stoven (noun; "sta-venn")-
Definition: An oven and a stove, which is what most actually use, but is simply called a stove.
Example: "Hey, can you put this on the stoven for me?"
Made by: The Evil Lord Sundae.
3. Shmallezoar (pronoun/adjective; "Sch-maal-aay-zor")-
Definition: Term given to a member of higher ranking.
Example: "Mark Aram is a shmallezoar to the rest of the members."
Made by: bob9007
4. LEZGOF:(pronoun/adjective; "LEZ-gof") [Alternate wording- lezgof]
Definition: A term almost like a lezbian, but not.
Example: "Carissa and Trami are a LEZGOF couple."
Made by: Carissa Horstmann
5. Poor man's change (noun; "poor-maanz-cha-ange")
Definition: The change a commoner gives to another, that has more income.
Example: "Trami accepted the poor man's change from Myduyen.
Made by: The Evil Lord Sundae
6. werd (adjective; "werd")
Definition: It is the equivalent to the word "awesome". This is so because generally the slang term for cool is "word", the higher term of cool is awesome, and "werd" fits such.
Example: All people with the name Mark are so werd. Look at Mark Aram, he's all kinds of werd.
Made by: bob9007
7. Shitload (adjective; "Shi-it-lo-ode")
Definition: One hundred of anything, in quantity.
Example: There's a shitload of people next door.
Added by: Aramark

Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
That's two down, so make up a word that is fun, inventive, robotics related, and accepted by any of the mods (MAINLY ME) via PM or real life, and it shall be added! =D
Requirements of such: Must actually be used by more than one person, is spoken and used in context to a moderator, and the moderator must approve of it.
Moderators to ask: ME. And the others, but request that they get the word to me as well, or it will not be added.
Short rundown of how it's done:
1. Make up word, have it be used somewhat often from more than one person, besides yourself.
2. Think about word definition.
3. Request by PM to mod about adding such word.
4. Mod will think about it.
5. If mod approves, it will be added and will have an asterisk (*) next to it.
6. Mod will send PM asking for the finality if the word is allowed to be overcooked, baked, and done over with a lawnmower.
7. You say it is alright to do so.
8. You add in post for origin.
9. Bada-boom, bada-bing, everyone's happy.
* - indicates that the word is still pendent til either a fully heard pronunciation is made, and that such pronunciation and context of word within sentence it is used in is approved by any mod. And that the recipient who sends in such a word has not allowed for it to be prolongly used, overdone, and OVERBLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION until their approval is given.
By the way, some of these words have backstories behind them. Expect the origins to be posted here by the recipients, so DON'T POST HERE unless you promise to delete your post and/or feel that is is within the great confines of the thread. Thank you.

Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
The origin of RUMORMAKER:
It came about, while watching "Whispers of the Heart", a Studio Ghibli film directed by the ever-so-famous Hayao Miyazaki. While watching it so, after eating dinner in the city with our cousin, Myduyen Dang (known as The Evil Lord Sundae) exclaimed out a character in one of the movie's scenes was a "RUMORMAKER". From such nonsense and nonstop laughter for about 20-30 minutes, the definition "RUMORMAKER" was born, and used in somewhat everyday context by few. It is gaining popularity, but slowly...

Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
The origin of Stoven:
Made after the formation of "RUMORMAKER", "Stoven" is simply the term Myduyen uses to differentiate the common kitchen housewares known as the oven, stove, and the combination of the two. By illogical theory, this is true.
By the way, illogical theory is nonsensical $h17 I come up with. It doesn't count as a dictionary term here in robotics, seeing how it's commonly used in real life, aside from the team itself.
Ohh, now your post makes no sense, O-Great-President-Mark!

Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
The Origin of SHMALLEZOAR:
The term was initially created after Mark got home from work, went on the forum, saw the post and said "Hey i wanna make one". He then proceeded to close his eyes and type somethin random. When he saw it was unpronouncable he made one up. The deffinition was the first thing that popped into his mind and of course Mark Aram had to be in the example cuz hes just that damn cool.

Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
The origin ofLEZGOF:
This term was made up after an A.I.M conversation between Trami and I.
I told her that we could be lesbians about something, and instead I typed "LEZGOF". so now we are lezgof lovers, not lesbian. ;X

Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
The origin of Poor man's change:
Amazingly, this was a word first coined back in the times of elementary school for Trami and Myduyen Dang only. (Thus, it's an extremely old word. Ancient, perhaps. Around 1996-1998-ish.) It was used to refer to the economic of our pockets back then, which was pretty much just penny and nickel change. It was then condemned after the momentous gain of more money that February from Chinese/Vietnamese New Year, and has not been put back into use until of recently, a few days ago.

Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
What's with people changing there posts to make it seem like I don't make sense?
Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
Can we please try to keep this thread clean? xD It's alright to comment for the love of which word is your favorite though, and to debate about the context it can be used in! =P
Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
Origin of thw word Werd:
Mark Aram isn't exactly a creator of the werd thought he knows its meaning very well. Back in middle school i'd talk to George Rigby and on aim one time we were talking and he accidently said werd and it stuck to me and has become the primary word in my vocabulary.

Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
Shitload:this is the quantity 100 of anything ie:A shitload of influential people
Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
Would you like this to be added too? :?Aramark wrote:Shitload:this is the quantity 100 of anything ie:A shitload of influential people
Then again, I use this term alot- inside and outside of robotics, so I'm not sure if you want it counted or not....
Re: Dictionary terms we make up :)
Go ahead, you can add it. Most people use the word improperly and think it means alot but is actually exactly 100. I want to spread its proper definition.
